Rules of Engagement for Librotraficante Underground Libraries

Why Underground Libraries?

Just as congress is bicameral, our art and history must be bicameral. We want to collect at least one set of books that were banned by the Tucson Unified School District for each of these libraries. We also ask all multicultural writers to donate copies of their books when they are published from now on, three years, five years, ten years down the line.

Our literature, our culture must never be at the mercy of political whim ever again.

What Are Underground Libraries?

The Librotraficante Caravan is partnering with nonprofit organizations that have a large enough infrastructure to help us recieve, catalogue, distribute, house, and use books. These will be "Read Easies" where our youth, our scholars, our community can experience our literature, our history, our culture in a nurturing environment.

Tasks that the Librotraficantes ask of Underground Libraries:

  • We will publish and promote your name and address as a site to send books to.
